Going to college is all about establishing your own independence. Hofstra University’s Dance Team learned that lesson by working with CampusFundraiser’s Family and Friends program.

Generally focused on perfecting their dance routines, team members wanted the flexibility to attend events that weren’t sponsored by the school. The answer was obvious: They needed a profitable fundraiser idea!

“This was a very good learning experience for the team because we had to put our hard work into something other than dance” says a satisfied Tracie. “CampusFundraiser is very organized and sold me on the fact that we would make a lot of money for our team.”

As any public relations major will tell you, good communications skills are key to financial success in today’s world. And nobody knows that better than Ms. Simon. “The representative was always available. If I had questions, he made sure I understood. He kept in close contact throughout the fundraising process to make sure everything went smoothly” she tells us.

Of course, not everything always goes smoothly in a program like this, no matter how well it’s planned. “Our members felt a little pressured because we only had three days”. But getting a fat check after their work was done made them feel much better. “Now they’re extremely happy and want to do it again” Tracie reports.

And whither went the money itself? “We put most of the money towards our winter formal”. Which means their next program will pay for springtime celebrations.
