In order for a sorority to function, they need money for many things, including dues, insurance, housing, events, and donations to philanthropies.  The members of Delta Gamma at California State Long Beach hold events every year in order to raise money, but the amounts they were bringing in just weren’t cutting it.  The president of the chapter started searching for fundraising ideas, and came across CampusFundraiser, so she sent an e-mail to fundraising leader Carolyn Horton with the info.  Carolyn then went to the website, and “it looked really interesting, so I signed up for a couple fundraisers right away!”

After talking to the staff, Carolyn decided that the Friends and Family Magazine fundraiser was the best way to go.  It ended up being a great choice – her sorority ended up making $2,190 in just three days!  She says that “it was hard to find many people who were interested in buying magazines, but my sorority knew the importance of us raising money and stepped up to the task!  They did a great job and I’m so proud of them!”

In doing this fundraiser, Carolyn adds that she “learned lots of things by handling this fundraiser and I feel like I will now be more experienced for fundraisers we put on in the future!”  Well, if running a fundraiser that earns $2,190 for her sorority was just a learning experience, we can’t wait to see how well she does next time!
