The impossible was attempted at Ashland University this past year.
Halfway between Cleveland and Columbus, Erin Gagan and the members of Kappa Kappa Psi sought to fund their annual scholarship to an outstanding band member. They wanted to pay for a formal dance for the instrumental program at the university. And they set their sites on supporting service projects to help the band program.
All this on $500!
“We have held raffles at concerts and conducted car washes.” Erin says of past efforts to raise funds for their causes. She also notes their last event brought in $75 … not much of a return on the investment of time and effort that they made.
Then a Google search turned up a better way. Erin had discovered CampusFundraiser.
“Your company seemed respectable, and your reputation is good.” she says when asked why she chose CampusFundraiser as a fundraising resource and idea. And the decision to work with us appears to have been a good one for Erin and her friends; “You guys were always there when we had questions, and there were fundraisers that seemed appropriate for our group’s members and needs.”
But there’s much more to running a successful fundraising program than just answering questions. “The company provided incentives and gave us many tips along the way to keep the group motivated and goal-oriented.”
Still, there were hurdles to overcome at Kappa Kappa Psi. “Group members had mixed feelings about this program – they knew we needed money, but were not excited about the idea of selling magazines.”
Yet by stretching their comfort zone, Kappa Kappa Psi’s members raised not the $500 they originally sought. Not a mere $1,000. Not even $1,500. Because by stretching their comfort zone, Kappa Kappa Psi’s members raised almost $1,900!
With all that money in hand, all kinds of opportunities opened up. “The money went to fund our formal dance for the band program, our annual scholarship, and there was still enough left over to purchase music stands for the band.” Erin reports with a smile.
At Ashland University, CampusFundraiser has made the impossible…possible.
CampusFundraiser can help your group successfully raise money too. Find out how.
