The Latino Business Student Association, located at the University of Southern California, isn’t afraid to have a big mission: “to develop young men and women into the leaders of tomorrow through professional exposure, community involvement, and social interaction.” They hold workshops and conferences for their members to grow professionally. They also strongly believe in being role models for younger generations, and they hold conferences for local high school students to encourage them to continue their education. They also hold an event every year that brings Christmas to families who might not otherwise have one.
While planning one of their more recent motivational projects, involving inner city public schools, the group realized that it was going to cost more than they expected. Revenue for the organization has always been raised through membership dues, school grants, and corporate sponsorships. Even with some big name sponsors, they were still coming up short on funds.
The members were'nt phased, though. They’re a business association, and fundraising is a huge part of the business world, Why not just look at it as another way to grow professionally? So they held a meeting to discuss different fundraising ideas and options.
Social Director Arthur Flores was quick to make a suggestion. “CampusFundraiser,” he said. “I know they’re organized and I have seen good results in the past from other organizations.” Arthur had done a fundraiser with them in the past, with the University of Southern California Soccer Team. He gave CampusFundraiser a call, got all of the information, and brought it back to his group. “Everyone seemed willing to do it in the beginning and there was a good amount of energy once I told them the potential earnings and how simple it is.” Arthur says.
They decided on the Family and Friends Magazine Fundraiser. Arthur’s favorite part? “Tracking progress online,” he says.
Did the students make a good decision when they decided to work with CampusFundraiser? Of course they did! “They pretty much provided everything except the manpower, and chose a product with good profit margins that is not too difficult to sell,” remarks Arthur. Their satisfaction with their fundraising decision got even higher when they received their check in the mail. They made $1,360 in just three days! No wonder why they are holding events on motivation and success!
CampusFundraiser can help your group successfully raise money too. Find out how.
