“The Phi Sigma Pi Honor Society at Ohio University was established just two years ago.” Fundraising chair, Whitney Osterhout explains.  The group is comprised of students committed to academic excellence in their respective fields of study.  During Phi Sigma Pi’s infancy stages, the group had not given much thought of big fundraising events.  Unfortunately, this issue had to be addressed because the group was finally feeling the financial strain.

The group embarked on a series of fundraising events soon there after.  They did everything from selling grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs, to helping out at their local amusement park.  Although these events made the group money, the work needed to run the fundraisers was overwhelming and exhausting.  Furthermore, with an alumnus soon to be participating in a half marathon to help support cancer research, the group decided it was time to make quick, easy money so they could sponsor her run.

This is where CampusFundraiser comes into the equation.  Using the Friends and Family Magazine Fundraiser, the members of the Phi Sigma Pi Honor Society were able to raise $700.00 in just a few short days!  “I liked that it was in a short, structured period of time because it forced people to work hard and in a timely manner,” Whitney adds.  After sponsoring the half marathon, the group was then able to take the remaining balance and put it in their account for next year and hopefully avoid situations like this in the future.

“I really appreciated that someone was always checking up on me and seeing if I was on top of things.  The staff was really great and I had a wonderful experience!” Whitney says excitedly.  “This is a great organization to be a part of and we will continue to use CF in the future.”  With dedicated people like Whitney Osterhout and the members of the Phi Sigma Pi Honor Society, CampusFundraiser will continue to be here to help whenever they need it!
