Shei Magazine was created in 1999 to become a voice for promoting the Asian culture and community. It is the only publication of its kind on the University of Michigan campus. When it was started, the students planned on funding the printing of the magazine, which is printed once a semester, by selling advertisements. However, recently advertisements have not been selling as well, so in order to continue the printing of the magazine, the editors realized that they were going to have to do a fundraiser.
The current editors had not done any fundraising, and did not know where to start. When the team started receiving e-mails from CampusFundraiser, they figured out that this could be the solution to their fundraising problems. Group leader Phyllis Wong says that “The amount of money we could make in the amount of time given was too much to pass up!”
Phyllis says that the CampusFundraiser team was “very helpful in walking us through the process and explaining each fundraiser to us.” She ended up signing up for the Friends and Family Magazine Fundraiser. Phyllis adds, “They also were very quick in troubleshooting whenever we came across a question or a problem.”
During the fundraiser, Phyllis says that the group members were very hesitant. However, “when they knew we were getting closer and closer to our target goal, [they got] a lot more excited.” They had a good reason to get excited – they ended up making $1,028 in just three days!
CampusFundraiser can help your group successfully raise money too. Find out how.
