For the guys at the University of Minnesota’s Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, college and leadership naturally go hand-in-hand. “We’re always looking for extra money to send guys to leadership school and to fund academic scholarships” says group leader Kyle Y. And this year the magic number needed was $1,300. “That would even leave us a little something to buy items for the house” Kyle tells us.

After learning about CampusFundraiser from a sorority member on campus, Kyle did a little fast homework and came away impressed with what he’d learned. Alternately describing our Friends and Family program as “challenging” and “intense”, he recalls how their CampusFundraiser coach “sent out daily e-mails with hints and instructions that were very helpful. He was easy to contact and always had the answers to our questions.”

As might be expected from a fraternity of leaders, the brothers jumped all over this opportunity. “Most were very willing to call friends and family to sell, though some needed a little encouragement” was reported back.

The hard work and encouragement paid off for the men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and the $1,300 is now sitting safely in their bank account waiting to be spent. “We know we’re buying a fryer for the kitchen” Kyle says, even as the debate rages on over what other priorities should be funded first.
