Sigma Chi Fraternity University of San Diego Fundraising Success with CampusFundraiser

A bad fundraising experience can easily dishearten any group.

The guys at USD’s Sigma Chi fraternity were understandably frustrated after an event they’d sponsored lost money. With responsibility for a big debt hanging over them, they knew they needed something big and fast to pull them out of the hole. And while they’d done events like car washes and date auctions in the past, none of these events had ever netted more than $800 – not nearly enough for their present needs.

Fortunately, one of the fraternity brothers had heard about CampusFundraiser and turned group leader Jon Ryan DeYoung on to the company’s website. From there, a brief phone call, an overview of how things would work, and Jon signed up for the Family and Friends magazine sales program. And from there, success was easy.

“CampusFundraiser gave us some good pointers on how to motivate people as well as how to structure the whole process from within our fraternity” says Jon, much happier now than when he first spoke with us. And though members of his group were initially skeptical about doing the fundraiser, “Once they heard how other people were actually coming back with a lot of sales, the whole group became really active”.

Nothing worthwhile is easy, and erasing a big debt is no different. The fraternity’s hard work paid off, though, netting them roughly three times what they originally set out to raise. Now with their books balanced, Jon and his brethren report the program was “hard work, but for a big payoff!

CampusFundraiser can help your group successfully raise money too. Find out how.
