A bad fundraising experience can easily dishearten any group.

The guys at USD’s Sigma Chi fraternity were understandably frustrated after an event they’d sponsored lost money. With responsibility for a big debt hanging over them, they knew they needed something big and fast to pull them out of the hole. And while they’d done events like car washes and date auctions in the past, none of these events had ever netted more than $800 – not nearly enough for their present needs.

Nothing worthwhile is easy, and erasing a big debt is no different. The fraternity’s hard work paid off, though, netting them roughly three times what they originally set out to raise. Now with their books balanced, Jon and his brethren report the program was “hard work, but for a big payoff!”
