At the University of Michigan, the sisters of Sigma Delta Tau and the other fraternities/sororities on campus are committed to helping those in need of assistance. Rather than competing for time and space to host fundraisers, the Greek life community at UM work together to help each other accomplish their goal of bettering the lives of others. With events like “GO BLUE, THINK PINK” and “GREEK WEEK,” the fraternities and sororities have collaborated to raise thousands of dollars towards cancer research and other local and national charities. But with these types of events, come a lot of planning, time and stress.
Sigma Delta Tau is required to host 2 fundraisers per semester to help support their national philanthropy: Prevent Child Abuse America. In need of an idea and quick money to help support the PCAA, fundraiser chair Rachael Schneider came to CampusFundraiser. Rachael heard about CF from another chapter and decided to take a look at the website. After seeing the PowerPoint presentation, she passed along the idea to the president and vice president of SDTau and both agreed it would be perfect for their sorority.
Sigma Delta Tau chose to participate in the Friends and Family Magazine Fundraiser. “Magazines are widely read throughout the campus and with such a large student population, this was a perfect fit for us,” Rachael adds. Fortunately for Rachael, this was a perfect fit. Sigma Delta Tau was able to raise more than $5,000.00 for Prevent Child Abuse America in just a few days! It is rare that you find a group of girls so dedicated and unselfish, that every cent earned goes to a great social cause. In fact, all the money they raise goes to charity!
Rachael adds “This was not hard. It is nice that this is already laid out for you and structured properly. This is a really great opportunity!” This is a good change of pace for the girls of Sigma Delta Tau, because planning for next falls “GO BLUE, THINK PINK” is already underway. We at CampusFundraiser wish you girls the best of luck!
