The Rip Chords University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign Fundraising Success with CampusFundraiser

William Shakespeare once wrote, “And when Love speaks, the voice of all the gods make heaven drowsy with the harmony.” The Rip Chords have the power of voice and harmony and are spreading it to others with concerts for hurricane relief, homecoming and the holidays.

The Rip Chords – a traveling, all female a cappella music group from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign are a joy to hear and watch. With 6 CD’s produced and after having traveled all across the country, this group of passionate, talented singers were no strangers to debt. “We recently recorded and released our 6th CD in May of this year. The CD turned out well, but we are currently in debt from recording fees. We need to pay off the debt so we can begin recording our next album with our new group,” says group leader Colleen Barry. Earning just $100 selling cups with their last fundraiser, the Rip Chords decided it was time to find a real answer to their money problems. “When I became president of the group, I knew about the amount of debt I would be facing and it was such a huge burden.  I immediately starting searching the web for fundraising ideas and CampusFundraiser was the best thing I found.”

“As I looked around the website and read the success stories of other groups, I could not believe how much money they were making after only a few days of work.  However, what solidified my decision was speaking with two other student leaders at my university that used CampusFundraiser.  They had only good things to say about the program, which gave me a lot of confidence.” Barry notes.

After a phone call and some enthusiastic team work, the Rip Chords ended up making a whopping $1,271 with the Friends & Family Magazine Fundraiser. “Working with CampusFundraiser was great!” CampusFundraiser made the process painless and simple. “A week before our fundraiser I received a packet from our Fundraising Manager which contained anything and everything I would need to make the fundraiser a success. All throughout the process, our manager also called me regularly to keep up with our progress and answer any further questions I had.”

“Our Fundraising Manager gave me lots of guidance and suggestions when I needed to get my group members excited about the fundraiser.  At first many of the girls were wary about selling magazines to their close family and friends, but once they saw how easily I was able to do it, the results started pouring in!  I told the girls that I hoped to raise at least $800 - $1,000 with the fundraiser, and we definitely exceeded that goal!” says Barry.
